How Do You Love Me? Let Me Count the Games

So many ways you could have spent your Valentine's Day. Breakfast in bed, a long walk on the beach or a romantic dinner for one. Should you be lucky enough to find yourself in a relationship, other options might have included watching College Basketball, the Olympics, or the NBA All-Star Game accompanied by a wilting, single-packaged rose from your local convenience store. $3.99 max. Swept off of your feet yet? Well, the Korean speed skating team was. On their way to sweeping gold, silver and bronze in the men's 1500m short track finals, one Korean countryman unintentionally took out another, making way for the U.S. to take silver and bronze.

In other wipeout news, U.S. Mogul skier Hannah Kearney upset Canada's favorite, Jennifer Heil, to win gold. Heil had to do the unthinkable and settle for second best. Redemption, however, came when Alexandre Bilodeau won gold in the men's moguls--Canada's first gold in the 2010 Games and first on home Olympic soil.

Upsets were the name of the game this weekend and college basketball was no exception. Louisville out juiced the #3 Syracuse Orangemen and Rutgers shut down #8 Georgetown (much like the Federal Government for the last week.)

NBA All-Star weekend didn't really live up to expectations either. The oft-hyped dunk contest was a yawn, with 5'9'-ish New York Knick, Nate Robinson winning for the 3rd straight year. Short guys finish first? As if. Boston Celtic Paul Pierce won the 3-pt competition and dubbed himself one of the best shooters ever. Best ever? No. Quixotic? Yes. Finally, in the actual All-Star game Sunday night, with Dwayne Wade as MVP, the East rose over the West proving that there's nothing new under the sun.
